Pipe Band

The British Club Bangkok Pipe Band practices most Tuesday evenings at the Club.

The band’s tutor and Pipe Major is Pipe Major Keith R. Walker ex Pipe Major of 42nd Highlanders Pipe Band (Black Watch Regiment). Keith is also piping instructor at Vajiravudh College in Bangkok which has a large pipe band with 50 pipers.

Keith is ably assisted by Pipe Sgt Mike Brooks, formerly of Wallacestone and District Pipe Band in Falkirk, City of Newcastle Pipe Band, Hong Kong Pipe Band and Bangkok Thistle Pipe Band along with Angus McKernan, formerly of Germiston Caledonian Society Pipe Band and the Drums and Pipes of the Cape Town Highlanders, South Africa.  Local pipers Feame, Top, Shawn and Gus are all former students of Keith’s from Vajiravudh College Pipe Band.

The drum corps is led by lead drummer George Morgan, formerly lead drummer of Fettes College Pipes and Drums in Edinburgh and Bangkok Thistle Pipe Band.  Joe Gare keeps the beat on the bass drum.

The Pipe Band is available to play in uniform at British Club functions, private parties, sporting events, weddings & etc.  We wear the Royal Stewart tartan.

The band is more than happy to teach piping and drumming free of charge to any Member who is interested.
