Children are an important part of British Club life and, since the Silom Wing opened in 2018, more and more families have been joining the Club to enjoy our unique facilities.
The Silom Wing has indoor and outdoor facilities catering for families with small children. There is family friendly outdoor eating area, an indoor Kids Stop with TVs, and a soft play area, as well as the kiddies pool, playground, and trampoline.
While Silom Wing buzzes, especially at weekends, there are also the lawns where kids can run and play and maybe drag mum and dad into a ball game or game of badminton. On Sundays large inflatables are floated in the main swimming pool for all the family to enjoy (lanes are roped off for serious swimmers).
When Phase 2 of the Poolside Redevelopment Project is finished, the temporary fitness centres will move into the new buildings and a new Games room will open on the Ground Floor of the Silom Wing. This can be booked for parties but otherwise used for games, which may include Arcade Games, Table Tennis, Foosball Shuffleboard, Virtual Darts and Pinball.
Meanwhile, there are lots of activities every week for kids of all ages, but especially at weekends and in the school holidays. Shrewsbury School Heads of Department run professional themed sessions once a month, and the Club’s very own BC Bee’s Club offers all sorts of fun activities on all the other Saturdays and Sundays.
There are kids’ movies every Friday evening at the Kids Stop, and Tennis, Cricket, and Squash coaching for Juniors.
The Club also organises children’s sports camps during the school holidays. Most activities are held at the Club, but there are some trips to outside venues.
