Paul moved to Thailand a couple of years before Covid, and joined the British Club in 2018. Having become a club member, visiting the British Club’s reciprocal clubs became a hobby of his. So far he’s visited around 70 reciprocal clubs, many of which he’s reviewed in the British Club’s magazine Outpost.
Career-wise, Paul is a mathematician. After completing his PhD in 1987, he moved to London to work in the financial markets, working for 6 different banks over a 24 year period. During his career, he was a derivative trader for about 10 years, and a front-office quantitative analyst and manager for the rest. He retired from that career in 2011, but still considers himself to be a mathematician and a computer programmer. In 2024, he became a father for the first time in his life.
